It’s been an exciting month for Canada. Glossier finally announced it would start shipping to Canada starting July 2017 – and as a special promo, anyone that purchases two or more products gets free shipping!
Okay, so what’s Glossier? The brain child of Emily Weiss @ Into the Gloss, Glossier is a new way of thinking about (and shopping for) beauty products… because “beauty” should be fun, easy, imperfect, and personal. And the packaging is super cute to boot!
Since the thought of choosing what products to buy first (I want them ALL), Glossier sells sets with some of their best selling products (and you get stickers with EVERYTHING!!). Phase One is like a skin care starter pack. It includes Milky Jelly Cleanser (my holy grail but we’ll get into that later), Priming Moisturizer & the famous Balm Dotcom. Phase Two focuses on makeup. It includes the Stretch Concealer, Generation G hippie and Boy Brow. Each set is approx. $50, but you can get 10% off your first order if you click here (full disclosure, I totally benefit if you do!)
Okay, now for my completely honest review.
Milky Jelly Cleanser: My new holy grail face wash. My old routine involved a makeup remover first and then cleansing. After using Milky Jelly for a couple weeks now, I can confidently say I no longer need a makeup remover. This stuff takes off everything! I even used my Bioderma as a test after I first used it – no makeup!! Needless to say, I am thrilled with this product and will be buying again and again! Thank you thank you Glossier for creating this amazing product!!
Priming Moisturizer: This moisturizer claims to make your skin look dewy and glowing. It is also meant to moonlight as a primer. I’m not huge on primers so I can’t fully say “yes it’s super buildable” or “no it doesn’t work at all”, but as a moisturizer – it’s great. It’s pretty light, so if you’re looking for a heavy duty moisturizer I would say move on, but for me it’s perfect. And honestly, my skin does glow! I noticed the difference by the second day. I will be buying again!
Balm Dotcom: Balm Dotcom is a skin salve that is similar to Vaseline. However, Balm Dotcom has cuter packaging and multiple (fabulous) flavours. I picked Rose and it has a hint of pink. It’s meant to be used anywhere on your skin… lips, hands, cuticles, dry spots, etc. People go crazy for this stuff! I really like it, but I’m not head over heels. It is however, perfect to keep on my desk for long work days and you need a little pick me up. It also makes my desk look cute 😛
Stretch Concealer: Again, this concealer claims to leave a glowing finish that moves with your faces instead of caking on top like other concealers. I’m partial to Nars, but I really enjoyed using this under my eyes and forehead. I didn’t find it to be cake-y at all. Since I don’t use concealer everyday, I can see the pot lasting me a long time – which is great! Overall, I’m impressed with the quality of this concealer – decent size too!
Generation G: This lippie was designed to give that “just blotted” lock, without the blot. I have a lot of lipsticks but sometimes its nice to have a hint of colour (something I’m working on!). This lippie seemed like the perfect solution. When I received it, however, the first thing I noticed was the size. It looked like a sample. It was a little disappointing. I got the colour “Cake” which is a subtle, peachy nude. It’s a very nice colour on me (fyi, I’m extremely pale). However, it didn’t stay on very long. After drinking a cup of coffee, it was completely off. For $20, I’m not sure I’ll be re-purchasing.
Boy Brow: I’m still kind of a rookie when it comes to eyebrows and my go to is Brow Wiz but thought I’d give this cult classic a try. It looks like a tiny mascara brush that you whisp across your brows. It thickens, fills in and grooms your brows in one swipe. At first it was a little weird because I could feel the product on my eyebrows, but they looked fab and not too perfect. After it dried, I couldn’t feel it anymore. My brows lasted all day and looked natural. I have to say, this product has definitely risen to cult status for a reason. I’m a believer. Only complaint – it’s tiny. It looks like a sample size too. That being said, I’ll probably buy again.
…..and thats is! Hope this helps anyone who was on the fence. Once I buy some more, *cough* cloud paint *cough*, I’ll post some more reviews.
Happy Thursday people – it’s almost the weekend!!!!
